{"id":599,"date":"2013-01-12T20:00:49","date_gmt":"2013-01-12T20:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.warg.info\/?p=599"},"modified":"2013-01-12T20:04:18","modified_gmt":"2013-01-12T20:04:18","slug":"marconi-cw-contest-november-2012-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/warg.dreamhosters.com\/index.php\/599","title":{"rendered":"MARCONI CW CONTEST &#8211; NOVEMBER 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the very first time the club ventured in to the world above \u2018HF\u2019 by entering in to\u00a0the Marconi CW Contest on VHF and the club members are extremely pleased with\u00a0the achieved result.<\/p>\n<p>Garo G0PZA commented at the club de-brief that it was an \u2018excellent effort\u2019\u00a0nevertheless special thanks must be acknowledged for all the hard work undertaken\u00a0by Kevin G1KAW in setting up the station and for lending us all his VHF equipment,\u00a0including Antennas, Radio and Amplifiers. Tony G4KLF for his usual amazing\u00a0support to all our contests and to David G0MRF for lending us his FT736 Radio as\u00a0our second radio.<\/p>\n<p>The following is taken from the RSGB ..<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>RSGB Contest Results 144MHz CW Marconi<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Twenty-three logs were received this year, which was slightly down on last year&#8217;s\u00a0twenty-five. All logs have been forwarded to the Italian society, ARI, who adjudicate\u00a0the pan-European Marconi Memorial Contest. Conditions were generally described\u00a0as `poor&#8217; and `flat&#8217;, with some reports of static rain. Best DX was DK6AS worked by\u00a0G3MEH at 866km. Twenty-two UK squares were active, and as usual there was lots\u00a0of activity in central Europe with 42 non-UK squares active.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><strong>The 24 hour Open section was won by Whitton Amateur Radio Group M2W\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>operating from JO00 square.<\/strong> Tiverton (SW) Radio Club was runner-up, operating\u00a0<\/em><em>from much further West in IO80.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Regular entrant John Lemay G4ZTR entered the Single Operator Fixed section this\u00a0year, and won the section by a comfortable margin. John continues his record of\u00a0finishing in the top two of his chosen section every year on record for this contest.\u00a0Last year&#8217;s winner Jeremy Butt G0JJG was runner-up. The certificate for leading\u00a0station running 25W or less into a single antenna in this section goes to Mike Ryder\u00a0G0CDA. Like last year there were just two entrants in the 6 hour Open section.\u00a0The section was narrowly won by M0BPQ, operated by Steve Bunting M0BPQ and\u00a0Mike Ruttenberg G7TWC. Northampton Radio Club G8N, operated by John Cockrill\u00a0G4CZB, took second place. Former 24 hour SF winner Dave Edwards G7RAU\u00a0returned to the contest this year, and won the 6 hour Single Operator Fixed section.\u00a0Dave beat last year&#8217;s winner G3MEH (operated again by Jeremy Browne G3XZG)\u00a0into second place.
